Alistar International Goals
The goal of every Alistar program is to…
1 - …Promote self-sustaining initiatives, whether they be with individuals or with communities of people. This means that over time the initiative will be able to thrive locally with little or no outside involvement.
2 - …Raise the consciousness of people not only to what is, but what can be.
3 - …Participate in projects that have local ownership by the community. Alistar does not do “Alistar projects”, but rather joins with the local community in a partnership controlled by the community.
4 - …Empower those we work with, so that individuals and communities have the means to determine their future as much as possible.
5 - …Be sensitive to the moral dimensions of local culture by maintaining dialogue with the cultural and spiritual leaders of the community.
6 - …Build the capacity and expand the assets of individuals and communities so that they can be more self-reliant.
7 - …Build partnerships and alliances with other organizations in order to maximize the resources of each for the betterment of those with whom we work.
8 - …Maintain the connection between the communities and their local environment so that the relationship between society and its environment is enhanced for the sustainability of both.
9 - …Evaluate and document all of our efforts in order to learn from and communicate our experiences to others, so that we can correct failures, and repeat successes.
